Fruit is tangy and slightly bitter to taste. Best consumed when over ripe and slightly soft.


European settlers were also known to use them in jams and pies.

The fruit is reputed to be higher in Vitamin C than oranges.

The fruit is enjoyed by birds and mammals alike, and eaten by bush turkeys, cassowaries, wompoo fruit doves, and flying foxes.
